Yogi Tarun Kranti Agrawal

Director & Founder

Tarun Agrawal, founder and director of The Kranti Yoga Tradition, was born in 1980 in Chhattisgarh, Middle India. Following a family tradition, at the age of 9, he frequented a guru named Sant Chana Baba for meditation and yogic spiritual talks. Chana Baba was an old Tantra Master living in a temple located on Shakti Mountain. He gave Tarun his spiritual name, Kranti, meaning revolution. It is no surprise that this has therefore become the name of his successful business, a yoga school with accommodation, on Patnem Beach, Goa.

Tarun started his spiritual journey when he was just a boy. He started Asana Classes with Swami Vidhyanand Saraswati at Sivananda Kutir Yoga Ashram and was trained there in several different styles of yoga: Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Sivananda, Kundalini and Raja. During this period, he was also taught Ayurveda by Dr. Manoj Sharma. He started teaching yoga at the age of 14.

In 1999 he became a member of The Divine Live Society Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh and stayed there for around 2 years. During this time, he was exposed to many spiritual Indian masters who influenced and molded his thinking and lifestyle.

In 2001, having stayed in several different ashrams, he taught Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at OSHO International Ashram, Pune. At the same time, he furthered his training at Jagan Mohan Palace in Mysore over the course of 3 years. Here, he was able to deepen his knowledge of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Since then, he has dedicated himself to teaching others this dynamic and powerful form of yoga.

In 2007, Tarun started his own yoga shala (school) in Goa and has since been teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Tarun was certified by The Yoga Alliance in 2010. At this time, he started travelling throughout Europe giving numerous classes and workshops. His reputation grew. His once simple shala on Palolem Beach has evolved into a yoga community on Patnem Beach, The Kranti Yoga tradition.
And so, Tarun continues to share his knowledge of yoga through his team. He is proud to have developed many of his former students to become yoga teachers in order to support the learning journey that comes with Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga on the Yoga Teacher Training Courses. As the school grows, so to do our teachers, all under the close supervision and guidance of Tarun himself. His policy is that his teachers are trained with him in the authentic Indian way, living most of the year, with him in the shala. Tarun believes strongly in promoting the spiritual side of yoga to support the physical. This is evident from the curriculum that he has developed over the years and more importantly from the teachers that that he has nurtured to teach.

Yogi Tarun

Director of Kranti Yoga Tradition Yogi Kranti

Yogi Kranti , the visionary Founder of Kranti Yoga, elucidates that in Sanskrit, ‘Kranti’ embodies the spirit of Revolution. His journey begins with his birth into a traditional Sanatana Hindu Dharma family during the auspicious Ganesh Pooja Rishi Panchami ceremony. Raised in a spiritual yogic tribe community, his upbringing was a mosaic of diverse religions, including Sanatana Hindu Dharma, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jains, Buddhist, and Jewish. This rich cultural tapestry instilled in him a deep understanding of various religious philosophies. Hailing from a town that beckons pilgrims of all faiths, some of whom traverse up to 200km to heed their spiritual calling, Yogi Kranti’s roots are firmly planted in a world of devotion.
Under the tutelage of Guru Yogi Maharata Chana Baba ji, a practitioner of yogic, vedic, and ayurvedic traditions, Yogi Kranti received his spiritual name as ”Yogi Kranti” at the tender age of 2. It was foretold that his charts bespoke a revolutionary soul destined to awaken others. Commencing his spiritual journey with daily Pooja practices, Yogi Kranti’s wisdom and yogic expertise flourished over 16 years under his Guru’s guidance. This tradition, known as Guru-Shishya parampara or Master-Student tradition in Yoga, instilled in him a commitment to a life devoted to social work. At 18, he embarked on a transformative pilgrimage, exploring diverse ashrams across India for over 3.5 years. A subsequent 9-month pilgrimage with his Guru saw them traversing India, visiting sacred sites of pilgrimage. At 22, Yogi Kranti delved into modern approaches to spirituality at a Sivananda Divine Life Society Yoga International Ashram, where he furthered his service, broadening his understanding of traditional knowledge and encountering Western teaching styles.
Deemed ready by his Guru, Yogi Kranti ventured to the south of India, ultimately finding himself in Goa. Here, in the heart of South Goa, he embarked on a new chapter, teaching foreign students in search of peace, harmony, and happiness. Sharing his profound wisdom and yogic lifestyle, he founded the Kranti Yoga School in 2007, nestled in the tranquil embrace of Patnem beach’s tropical nature. Over 15 years, the school has flourished, enlightening 18,055 students from around the globe. In 2020, a transformative vision emerged, guiding Kranti to bring Kranti Yoga’s Vedic Tradition to the West, offering spiritual guidance to those unable to travel. Bestowed with his Guru’s blessing, he strides forward, poised to share his unique lineage of yoga and spiritual teachings as we embrace the Age of Aquarius, a potent vedic era of growth and transformation. This endeavor stands as a testament to his dedication to expanding consciousness, culminating in the establishment of the Kranti Yoga Foundation in 2022, an international non-profit organization, leaving an indelible mark on history.
Yogi Kranti’s unwavering passion and dedication have not only facilitated the dissemination of knowledge and interest in Yoga, but have also allowed him to refine and expand techniques, all while preserving its original beauty and honoring its deep-rooted heritage. When you want something truly, even the Universe supports you. A testament to the power of intention, a new project has materialized—a sprawling 40-acre hospital dedicated to healing. Envisioned as a sanctuary offering diverse healing modalities for people of all ages, ailments, and injuries, it is set to be India’s first hospital encompassing Allopathy, Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga Therapy, and Unani, a scientific western approach and holistic Indian approach of healing under the same roof.
Yogi Kranti’s Teaching Style:
The Bhagavad Gita’s wisdom, “Yoga is the ultimate journey to discover the self,” has been a guiding light for Yogi Kranti ji’s journey in popularizing Yoga over the past 15 years. Infusing creativity and joy into his teaching, he has honed his dream of imparting Yoga with inventive techniques. To date, he has successfully nurtured the growth of over 18,055 students, positioning Kranti Yoga International as a beacon among Yoga institutes worldwide.
Embracing teaching as his life’s calling, Yogi Kranti ji draws inspiration from Shri Yogi Chana Baba. He imparts the principles of the traditional Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, seamlessly interwoven with the dynamic energy of Vinyasa Flow. The purifying essence of the primary series’ sequence complements the creativity of the vinyasa flow, harmoniously known as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. In tandem, he imparts profound traditional wisdom in Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga, and Ayurveda.
Over the past 20 years, he has championed the significance of Yoga on Goa’s breathtaking beaches, with a special focus on the morning Shalas. The choice of exquisite locations, including Patnem Beach and South Goa, adds to the allure, drawing aspiring Yogis to come, unwind, and continue their journey of self-discovery.
