Four reasons why practicing Yoga in goa beach

Most people’s idea of paradise looks something like this: palm trees, open beaches, beautiful blue ocean; sand, sea, sunshine. Who wouldn’t want that? Today we’re discussing beach yoga, and specifically four reasons why practicing yoga at the beach, on some of the best beaches in Goa, is so good for us. It’s such a unique and special experience to be able to practice beachside yoga, and for some, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so let’s dive right in…

CONNECT WITH THE EARTH AND THE ELEMENTS BY PRACTICING YOGA

One of the main benefits of doing yoga on the beach is the ability to connect with the earth and the elements in a very literal sense. You can treat your feet into the sand, listen to the sound of the ocean, and feel the sea breeze on your skin as you practice. Yoga means “union”, and the level of connection you can reach by practicing yoga on the beach with the earth and elements surrounding you is unbelievably special. There’s nothing like feeling the warm sand beneath your toes as you balance, feel the sun warm your body as you practice Surya Namaskars, or allowing the sea breeze to carry away any doubts, worries, or negativity as you sit in meditation.

IT’S BEAUTIFUL

Why practice yoga in Goa? Because it’s beautiful! Goa is renowned for its stunning beaches, and as we mentioned at the start, most of them look something like most people’s idea of paradise. The beauty here, from the sand to the waves, to the sunshine, to the trees, is overwhelming. If you allow yourself to focus and tune into this as you practice, you can transcend to a level of being that will have you climbing that path to enlightenment. Just the simple contemplation and appreciation of such beauty will leave you feeling renewed, uplifted, and energized because such beauty has the ability to radically change your mood, perspective, and practice.

INDIA: YOGA’S SPIRITUAL HOME

India is yoga’s spiritual home. The land here is steeped with yogic history and charged with the lineage and spirituality of this ancient practice. So where better to come expand and develop your practice than India? Practicing and learning yoga in this country has an unrivalled feeling; it simply does not compare with anywhere else in the world. For any enthusiastic yogi, this is an opportunity not to be missed: study yourself and your yoga practice in the land where it all began.

FREEDOM

For us, nothing says freedom like being barefoot on the beach, having the space to explore your body, your practice, and take yoga off the mat. So often we confine our yoga practice to the studio and limit ourselves to the range of movements possible from the mat. Well, what if we changed our perspective on yoga? What if we realized yoga is a state of being: it is the internal focus we cultivate, the sense of peace and balance, the union of the breathe and the body, and the ways we restore ourselves to our essential nature. You can find this freedom, this state of yoga, anywhere; and there’s just something about the beach that seems to nurture this notion perfectly. Come down to the beach and take it all in – walk, breath, move, express – find your flow, and free your yoga practice.
